Each comes with a minimum spend price tag; all of which are very high for a solo, alcohol free traveller. Iâve found most venues have increased minimum spend amount a lot! This really only works for people looking to get drunk. Still I prepaid for a cabana knowing Iâd never reach my minimum spend limit, but I didnât think Iâd miss it by IDR 1M! Thatâs because the food was atrocious. I firstly ordered 1/2 dozen natural oysters. They were not fresh, tasty rubbery and chewy and I sent back 5 after eating only one. I then tried the fish and chips and grilled romana salad thinking this would be difficult to get wrong. I was so very wrong. The fish and chips were dry and cold and felt a day old. It was like a terrible pub fish and chips. The batter was too thick. The fish was brown meat and there was no seasoning on the chips at all, or any offered. The grilled romana salad wasnât grilled, it was burnt. So instead of sweet caramelised leaves, they were burnt. The salad came with some potato mash balls. These were straight from the fridge and I mean they had just been pulled from the fridge they were so cold. I sent these dishes back too. Staff were very apologetic and wanted to offer something else, but after three failed dishes, I lost my appetite. I was disappointed that the venue then decided to on-sell my cabana for a second sitting at 4pm it wasnât booked online because I checked at 4pm. Particularly given how low my spend was and how much credit remained. They did offer an alternative sitting area but after a very disappointing afternoon, I simply wanted to cut my losses and go. I wonât be back until they shake up the kitchen and bring in a new chef and menu.
